GOALS AND PLANS
As we see wolves, once again, being shot and trapped and poisoned, we recognize that our incredible opportunity to live with wolves is unlikely to ever happen again. For that reason, we feel that we have an obligation to share the lives of The Sawtooth Pack and their kin with the widest audience possible, to save wolves and the wild land they need for future generations.
The information we have about wolves desperately needs to be shared in order to bring about change. The success of the Yellowstone wolf packs, and their role in rehabilitating that entire ecosystem, has opened minds, creating an opportunity for further education.
Our experiences in taking the story of the Sawtooth Pack to the public have always been overwhelmingly successful. Wolves strike a chord in many adults and children who eagerly come to our presentations and leave visibly moved. It is impossible to learn the story of the Sawtooth Pack and not come away realizing that current policy toward these animals is, at best, dangerously unbalanced. We have dedicated most of the last decade to spreading the word that wolves are not the deadly creatures of nightmare, but an important part of a healthy ecosystem, contributing in an irreplaceable way to the world they have been driven from.
Our plan is to use our new books and films as the centerpiece of a larger, broader educational outreach presentation that will include lectures, slide shows, museum exhibits, media and subsidized donations of our videos and books to public and school libraries. Our third film on the Sawtooth wolves, nominated for another Emmy, and our third book, photographically elegant and containing a CD of wolf sounds, have been extremely well received. We are uniquely poised to make this dream a reality.
We need to communicate our experience and knowledge about wolves at this critical time. We’re pleased to report that our efforts so far have been very well received, drawing huge crowds and excellent press across America.
We feel it is important to our supporters and to our audiences to keep our goals clear and focused, addressing issues where we know we can change minds and make a difference.
1. Continue our educational outreach presentations.
2. Create a traveling photographic exhibit for museums, in order to extend our educational outreach beyond the date of our lectures.
3. Donate our books and videos to public and school libraries.
