In response to a recent ruling by a federal judge that restored ESA protections for the gray wolf in the western Great Lakes region, several members of Congress are preparing legislation to try to take gray wolves in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Wyoming off the endangered list – in yet another politically driven effort to get around the Endangered Species Act and a federal court’s ruling.

The effort is being led by U.S. Rep. Reed Ribble (R-WI), who is relying on the same strategy that Idaho and Montana used to take wolves of the endangered list in their states in 2011.
