Tsongas Amendment does not pass in a 186-243 vote, focus efforts now on opposing the Newhouse Amendment

First, thank you to all of you that have been reaching out to your representatives during this legislative assault on wolves and the Endangered Species Act.  We need you to continue, please. It is not over.

The Tsongas Amendment that proposed to strike anti-ESA riders, including one to delist wolves in WY and Great Lakes region, from the Interior/EPA Appropriations bill did not pass. The amendment failed, but the final vote was 186-243, a strong showing that demonstrates just how controversial these attacks on the ESA are. If you’d like to read a transcript of House discussion of the Tsongas Amendment, check here, and scroll to page 31.

If House members in your region voted in support of the Tsongas Amendment, send them a thank you!

Here is the roll call vote, where you can see who supported this amendment and who voted against it: http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2015/roll404.xml

Now, it’s time to focus on Rep. Newhouse (R-WA) amendment to delist wolves in Washington, Oregon and Utah. The vote on the Newhouse amendment and all remaining amendment votes is expected to take place tomorrow afternoon (Thursday, July 9, 2015).

Please keep emailing, calling and tweeting your House offices and ask your Representatives to oppose the Newhouse amendment!
