Student Develops Fundraising App
A 12-year-old boy from Idaho fell in love with wolves after he attended a presentation by Jim and Jamie Dutcher with his grandmother in 2018. Soon thereafter, Bastian had the opportunity to see real wolves up close, and his idea was born to develop an app to raise money for wolf conservation organizations. He was further inspired to achieve his goal after visiting the Living with Wolves Museum and acquiring authentic wolf sounds from the Sawtooth Pack for use in his app.
With some initial help from his mom, Bastian learned how to code a mobile app. It took him over a year to build and publish the final product, and it was a true labor of love. His mom emailed us sharing that he had told her it wasn’t an easy task and said, “I wouldn’t be doing this if I didn’t want to protect the wolves. It’s for the wolves.”
Bastian’s interactive app, Howl: For the Wolves, allows users to guide a lone wolf through the wilderness to reunite with its pack. The app is available on the App Store and Google Play for $4.99. When you purchase the app, 80% of the proceeds are donated to Living with Wolves!
We commend Bastian for his admirable perseverance, his deep commitment to saving wolves, and his heartfelt generosity in supporting our organization. Please support Bastian and Living with Wolves by purchasing Howl: For the Wolves and becoming a wolf defender today!
